Advanced wood plastic composite material for the production of bath furniture resistant to moisture and free of coatings (LIMOWOOD)

In this EU-funded research project from the program "Research for the benefit of SMEs" (FP7-SME-2012-314294), a moisture-resistant WPC material is being developed for use in furniture. The material is made from recycled thermoplastic polymers and wood particles. Compounds are being developed for both profile extrusion and for pressing to form boards. Special requirements exist as regards water absorption, swelling, dimensional stability and flame retardancy.
