Delicacy, alternative protein source, high-tech material: At the International Conference of the German Mycological Society, everything revolves around fungi. Experts from various disciplines share the latest research findings on the biodiversity and cultivation of fungi, their specific properties, and their diverse uses. In addition to the scientific part of the conference, excursions are offered to explore the fungal world of the region.

Two scientists from Fraunhofer WKI will give lectures on fungal mycelium-based materials for the construction industry and the cultural sector:

• Dr. Steffen Sydow: “Building with fungi – mycelium-based materials for construction applications”
• Dr. Henrik-Alexander Christ: “Ganoderma lucidum im neuen Licht – Myzelbasierte Materialien am Schnittpunkt zwischen Kunst und Wissenschaft”
