The new technical center hall of the Fraunhofer WKI in Hanover has been completed in September 2016.

Application Center for Wood Fiber Research HOFZET®

The Fraunhofer WKI's "Application Center for Wood Fiber Research HOFZET" is located in Hanover. The scientists of the HOFZET develop hybrid (bio) fiber composites with thermoplastic and thermoset matrices. Focus is thereby placed upon the higher-grade use of natural fibers and derivatives for technical applications in various sectors, such as the automotive, construction and environmental industries. Organizationally, the HOFZET is incorporated into Fraunhofer WKI as a department.

15 permanent employees are engaged at the HOFZET, 13 of whom are scientists. Around 1,300 square meters of offices, laboratories, technical center and open-air space are available for the execution of research contracts.

The research and development work is carried out in close cooperation with the "IfBB - Institute for Bioplastics and Biocomposites" of the Hanover University of Applied Sciences and Arts. The two institutions share the state-of-the-art technical center at the Campus Ahlem.
