Long-term behaviour of adhesively bonded wood hybrid systems for built sustainability

This webinar gives an overview of the research conducted on adhesively bonded fibre reinforced polymer-timber (FRP-timber) and timber-concrete composite (TCC) hybrid systems by the junior research group of the Fraunhofer WKI.

To understand the long-term performance of the adhesively bonded FRP-timber and TCC structures, sets of experimental investigations were carried out for their mechanical properties, microstructure, and surface chemistry. The studies gave special attention to the behaviour of the interface between these different materials, which is essential to ensure its composite behaviour. Furthermore, several material modifications were also investigated to improve the properties of the individual materials with a primary aim to optimize the overall performance of the hybrid systems.

This project was funded by the Fachagentur Nachwachsende Rohstoffe e. V. (Agency for Renewable Resources) affiliated to the German Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL).
